Built for the ten minutes before the appointment
Dentist Book started from a small observation: the software a dental practice runs on is usually tied to one desktop machine in one room, and the practitioner is rarely in that room.
Clinicians have a busy schedule and cannot make the best use of their time. Organising appointments, preparing a patient's records in advance and reading up on their medical history all tend to get squeezed out — not because they do not matter, but because doing them means walking to a computer and logging in to something slow.
So Dentist Book was built the other way around: as a notepad you already have in your hand. Open it between patients, read the history, add a note during the session rather than writing it up at the end of the day, attach the radiograph to the record it belongs to, write the prescription, and mark the payment as taken. The paperwork comes out of what you have already entered instead of being a second job.
How it is built
Dentist Book is a single cross-platform application, which is why iOS and Android get the same features at the same time instead of one platform trailing the other. Your data is held in the cloud so it follows you between devices, and recently used records are cached locally so the app does not stall waiting on a network in a treatment room.
Who makes it
Dentist Book is developed by Viktor Ohanyan, an independent mobile developer. It is a small operation, which has two consequences worth knowing: features arrive in the order practitioners actually ask for them, and when you email support, you reach the person who wrote the code.
Dentist Book is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide clinical advice, and you remain responsible for meeting the record-keeping, retention and data protection obligations that apply to your practice in your country.
